Novel Hollow Re-entrant Structures Improving Hydrophobicity of Metal Surfaces

Abstract Re-entrant structures have drawn increasing attention because of their hydrophobicity. However, it is very difficult to manufacture re-entrant at the micron scale on metal surfaces. In this study, we designed and manufactured novel hollow employing laser ablation electrodeposition technology. This structure surfaces has been fabricated successfully, which high processing efficiency good repeatability. The morphology size were characterized. We found that hydrophobic performance was improved after being in atmosphere for 3 days. After electrodeposition, static contact angle 133°. placed days, 140.4°, 5.2% higher than electrochemical deposition. explained cause phenomenon. change element content surface used indicate formation oxide. oxygen increased by 0.4%. with a broader application prospect.
